Support for SharePoint Server 2019 officially ends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. That’s less than six months away — and for many organizations, this date is approaching faster than expected. SharePoint 2019 has been a stable and reliable on-premises platform for years, but the end of mainstream support is an important milestone that should not be ignored.

It’s important to say this clearly: SharePoint on-prem will not suddenly stop working after the support ends. Many companies will continue to use their existing SharePoint 2019 farms even without official support from Microsoft. This is technically possible and, in some cases, business-justified. However, running an unsupported platform means no security updates, no bug fixes, and increasing risks over time — especially in regulated or security-sensitive environments.

Because of this, now is the right moment to start thinking about migration strategies, even if you are not planning to move immediately. Options may include upgrading to a newer on-prem version, hybrid scenarios, or a full move to SharePoint Online. Each path has its own technical, organizational, and financial implications, and the worst strategy is waiting until the deadline has already passed.

If you’re unsure where to start, need an honest assessment of your current SharePoint farm, or want to discuss realistic migration options, feel free to contact me. I help teams work with SharePoint on-prem today and plan a safe, well-structured transition for tomorrow.
